Roboracer competitions, open-source robotics, and outreach

I organize autonomous racing competitions, maintain simulation and control software, and help with questions on the RoboRacer slack group.

Roboracer competitions

I help organize Roboracer’s international autonomous racing competitions, where teams develop planning, perception, and control software and evaluate it in physical races.

My work includes coordinating race operations, rules, event websites, and live streams. At ICRA 2026 in Vienna, the competition brought together 200 participants and 30 teams from more than 12 countries. Later that month, we hosted 14 teams at IV in Detroit.

I have also helped organize competitions at ICRA 2024 in Yokohama, CDC 2024 in Milan, and ICRA 2025 in Atlanta. We are currently preparing for IROS 2026.

Open-source software and hardware

Since January 2024, I have maintained F1TENTH simulation and control repositories, including issue triage, pull-request review, integration, and releases.

Roboracer R5

I co-developed Roboracer R5, an open-source 1/5-scale off-road robot. My contributions included power-system integration and installation of the Fixposition Vision-RTK positioning system. I also implemented SIT-LMPC and friction-estimation methods on the platform for hardware experiments.

Robotics outreach in Lebanon

At AUB, I served as secretary and later vice president of the Robotics Club. I helped run workshops and engineering design activities, including sessions on Arduino programming, GPU computing, and genetic algorithms.

I also worked with Coder Maker on the Lebanon chapter of the NXP Cup. As a technical support lead, I helped students build and program autonomous cars and led a volunteer team developing a seven-week curriculum for the 2021 competition.
